In collaboration with Hopsteiner, we’ve created Dreamlike – a Hazy IPA that could just be the beer of our dreams! Using new to us Alora and Solero hops, expect vibrant tropical notes from mango to aromatic yuzu alongside sweet peach and passionfruit flavours. On the nose, we also found soft, sweet honeydew melon and tasty flavours that made us feel nostalgic for Juicy Fruits chewing gum!

Back for its 9th year, Pilgrim pumpkin beer is our seasonal addition to our small batch Brewer’s Emporium range. This tasty, spiced ale is fragrant, full bodied, and flavoursome, with a lightly bitter finish. We’ve selected a classic combination of autumnal spices, inspired by our favourite holiday recipes, to create a cosy yet refreshing golden ale to keep those cockles toasty and warm. You can read more about it in this blog post.

Reverence is packed full of Mosaic hops (including being dry hopped using innovative hop extract Hyperboost), inspired by our popular American Pale Ale, Heathen, which has been the flagship of our Brewers’ Emporium range since 2016. But a baby Heathen this brew is not intended to be! We believe it’s a beer that holds its own alongside the rest of our range – the ultimate session beer, crisp and crushable with an aromatic and punchy hop character. Expect refreshing tropical flavours and notes of zesty grapefruit, with a delicate bitterness in the finish to round out the profile beautifully. Juicy, easy-drinking, delicious. Like all our beers, it’s gluten free.

Heathen American style Pale Ale is the flagship beer of our Brewer’s Emporium and a much-loved staple of the Abbeydale Brewery range. It is wonderfully refreshing and celebrates one of the best loved hops amongst craft beer lovers. Laden with Mosaic, it bursts with tropical hop flavours and a pleasing citrus bitterness.

This gluten free craft beer has been at the heart of our core range for 10 years now. Innovative then, it remains as fresh and zesty as it did in 2016. The arrival of Heathen paved the way for our Brewer’s Emporium range which now has 4 beers that are constantly brewed and new releases almost every week. It also saw us move our branding in a new direction with our in-house designer James creating the scrolls and rays of the range for which we are now so well know.

A Gluten free Session IPA that packs a punch of flavour while sitting at a lower ABV. Eminently quaffable with a juice explosion. Galaxy hops bring mango, peach, and passion fruit while Cascade adds a waterfall of green tea, fresh grass and light, herbal spice. This beer is a hazy handful, with oodles of hoppy goodness and exceptional balance.

Voyager is so named as it was, in fact, a voyage to get us to this core range IPA we brew today. At first it was a rotational beer, showcasing a variety of various hop combos as we searched for the perfect blend. We settled on mega hops Citra, Centennial and Mosaic to make this big American style IPA, oozing juicy citrus and tropical fruit flavours with a vibrant finish. West Coast bitterness meets East Coast fruitiness.

Centennial hops, part of the trio that make what we think is the ideal IPA match, has its origins in some British traditional favourites. it was first crossed in 1974 with heritage from Fuggles, Brewers Gold and Golding. Named for the 100 year anniversary of the founding of Washington State, Centennial is an excellent all-rounder, imparting balanced citrus fruit, floral and spice characteristics throughout the brew. Perfect for American Pale Ales and works very well with other hops.

Citra and Mosaic are some of the most prominent hops in UK craft brewing for a reason – together imparting blueberry, tangerine, mango, and tropical fruit with fresh pink grapefruit, zesty lime, and sweet orange peel.

Our flagship pale ale and our most famous beer! Abbeydale Moonshine continues to stand the test of time and we don’t mind sharing that this beer has been called a Sheffield icon. Not only was it our first ever brew, it has remained our biggest seller for all of its (and our) 30 year history.

With its distinctive “Moonshine Blue” badge, and its refined, eminently drinkable flavour profile that simply does not age, we are so proud of this beer and all that it represents.

Moonshine was initially inspired by two things. The type of beers our founder and original brewer Pat liked to drink, along with the hop-forward American beers which were just reaching our shores in the mid 90s – but at a slightly more sessionable ABV.

Moonshine is light on bitterness, with the emphasis on late-added hops for flavour rather than hops added to the boil (which would extract a higher level of bitterness). Originally 100% Willamette hops, and with a character still very much driven by Willamette, the recipe for Moonshine has shifted gently over the years, blending in other hop varieties including Citra, Centennial, Delta and Chinook, at carefully adjusted volumes to ensure the flavour of the beer itself remains consistent.

The story of Deception starts back in 2008, when we were trialling some new hops in a series of specials.  Friend of the brewery Stuart Noble wouldn’t stop talking about a new hop from New Zealand, Nelson Sauvin, a hop that supposedly brought with it flavours of Sauvignon Blanc, and so we thought we’d give it a go.  Our hop suppliers, Charles Faram, also knew how much our brewery owner Pat loved experimenting with new varieties and so were happy to help us get our gauntlet gloves on some. We brewed one full brew length of it, sold out of it within weeks and promptly had to brew it again!

The most traditional beer from our core range, it was a shift away from the high hopped pales on which we founded our reputation. It came about when we took on our wonderful pub The Rising Sun and encountered a hoard of bitter drinkers who wanted brown beer on the bar! Since then this beer has been an integral part of our core range with a loyal following amongst publicans and pub-goers alike.

Black Mass has previously been described as a bit of an enigma… a hop forward dark beer, too hoppy to be labelled a straightforward stout and without a category to define it when it was first brewed over 25 years ago. The term “Black IPA” simply wasn’t around when the beer was first made, on 6^th November 1996, and as a descriptor it didn’t really become part of the beery lexicon until circa 2008 – with its oxymoronic nature causing both consternation and fascination in the beer world ever since!
